The Decorative and Arts Society of Malta announces its new series of lectures for 2018-2019 at the Salini Resort in St. Paul’s Bay. The aim of DFASinMalta is to promote the appreciation and study of the fine arts and our cultural heritage. Our lectures cover a wide range of artistic, historic and cultural subjects.
An exciting lecture starts the season on 11 October with “From Downton to Gatsby”, fashion and jewellery from the Belle Epoque. “The Boy Who Bit Picasso” follows in November. In the new year we will move on to Catherine the Great and her cultural heritage in Russia in January. February will bring us a study of how paintings are conserved, and in April a talk on the Oriental style, which brought a new wave of influence to Europe. We will round out the season with a presentation on the life of Misia Sert, patron of the arts and “Queen of Paris”. This is a varied and delightful selection of artistic talks we have assembled for our members.
