Orientalism, Chinoiserie and Japonisme

Influenced by Napoleon’s conquest of the Orient in the early 19^th century, artists incorporated these new ideas and the dream of exotic travel into their art, literature, dance and architecture creating a new movement in all forms of art and design.  Our next lecturer, Suzanne Perrin, will explore with us this movement of art, from its beginnings in the early 1700s to the present day.  This rich presentation will start at 6.30pm Thursday 11 April at the Salini Resort in St. Paul’s Bay.  Admission is free for members and open to the public for a fee of €15.  Contact Nicky Stilon at maltadfas@gmail.com for reservations.
