More Russian than the Russians:  Catherine the Great

Empress of Russia from 1762 until 1796, Catherine the Great was a patron of the arts, literature, and education.  Under her reign, Russia was revitalized; it grew larger and stronger, and was recognized as one of the great powers of Europe.  For DFASinMalta’s next lecture, Marie-Anne Mancio will show us how Catherine the Great, founding academies and libraries, commissioning buildings and gardens, brought Russia into a Golden Age.  Join us on 10 January at 6.30pm at the Salini Resort in St Paul’s Bay.  Admission is free for members and open to the public for a fee of €15.  Contact Nicky Stilon at for reservations.
